My bestie popped by last week with a hair emergency, so I showed her one of my favorite haircare products to both solve her problem and not empty her bank account! This got me thinking about all of the amazing and affordable beauty products that I use and rave about when the subject comes up, and today I thought I’d share them all with you! I am a total beauty product junkie, we’re talking over 100 products. If I like a product, and it works well for me I will spend almost any amount on it, but I’m always super duper extra happy if that product is less than $20, as is Hubby!
1) Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioner ($3.50)
Holy crap you guys! I still can’t believe how AMAZING this deep conditioner works! My hair is always pretty dry and it gets even worse when I heat style it, which happens a few times a week. I’ve tried more expensive brands and was never satisfied so when I saw this one (and I had a coupon for an extra buck off) I thought I’d give it a shot, and wow it blew me away! My hair was immediately like a billion times softer, less frizzy and felt all around healthier! I can’t imagine a better product existing at this price point!
2) NYX Cosmetics Micro Brow Pencil (Taupe shade) ($12)
My fellow blondies, this is the GREATEST eyebrow pencil of all time and I will fight anyone who disagrees! I am serious when I say that it is better than Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products for anyone with blonde hair. I have tried dozens of eyebrow pencils and the problem that I kept running into is that all the “taupe” and “blonde” shades were very red tinged and never matched my hair AT ALL! Clinique was the best I could find, and is still pretty good, but then I discovered NYX in taupe and bonus its $6 cheaper than my former fave and an even better color match! I will never use another brow pencil.
3) Maybelline Baby Lips Balm (“Peach Kiss”) ($4)
I have been using this lip balm for years and keep one in my purse, my fancy diaper bag, my regular diaper bag, and one with the rest of my makeup. This shade gives a little bit of color, with a beautiful glossy shine and is super moisturizing for dry lips! And bonus, it smells sooo good, like a peach bellini!
4) Hard Candy 1000 Lashes Fiberized Lash Weave Primer ($7)
I’ve said it before on the blog here and I’ll say it again, this product is the holy grail of lashes! It makes your lashes look waaaay longer and fuller, and is only a fraction of the price of the lash fibres sold in department/makeup stores!
5) Dove go fresh Anti-Perspirant Deodorant (Revive -pomegranate and lemon verbena) ($3.50)
I have been using Dove deodorant since I was a teenager and while I’ve tried other brands out of sheer curiosity, I have always gone back to Dove. When Dove came out with this scent a few years ago, it quickly became my fave! I perspire quite a bit chasing after The Twincesses all day, and when I go to the gym, and this deodorant never leaves me smelling nasty even after a hardcore workout!
6) NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder ($3.50)
This loose powder works wonderfully to set makeup, prevent shine and to mattify! I have been using it for a few years now and it works even better than the pricier brands I’ve tried before. At less than $5 it can’t be beat, and it lasts forever!
7) Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spots Concealer & Treatment/Brightener ($11)
This super star product works great alone to brighten up undereyes, over top of concealer for bad dark circles and over foundation as a highlighter. I love it because it isn’t sparkly or shimmery like most brightening makeup products. It is a godsend for anyone (Momma’s especially) who doesn’t get enough sleep, nobody will ever know!
8) Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Liquid Liner (Black) ($10)
This is the be all and end all of liquid liners and nobody will convince me of anything else! I’ve been using this bombshell of a liner for probably 8 years and it has never disappointed! This is the easiest liquid liner to apply that I’ve ever used, and the color lasts, you literally can’t get it off without some type of makeup remover which is great because you never need to re-apply! The tip of the pen-like liner is perfect for achieving precise lines, and girls I am one of those shaky hand type people, so if I can get a sharp line, anyone can!
9) Garnier Skin Renew Instant Smoother ($16 or $6 at Winners/Marshalls/TJ Maxx if you can find it there)
This product really surprised me, in a good way! In the last few years I’ve developed fine lines under my eyes that tend to be accentuated when I wear makeup because the makeup settles around the lines, making them much more noticeable. Applying makeup primer didn’t help and I was becoming quite self-conscious about it. I was at Winners one day checking out their beauty product section randomly,(which I never usually do) where I spotted this miracle product and thought I’d give it a try because it was only $6. Boy am I glad I did. This baby takes fine lines and somehow blurs them out so that they are unnoticeable and also helps makeup glide over top rather than settling in or around lines. When I run out of my current tube I will go check Winners for more, and if they don’t have it I don’t mind paying more at the drugstore because this is a product that works extremely well for me.
10) NYX HD Photogenic Concealer (Light shade) ($12)
Sephora went and ruined my life by running into a manufacturing/supply issue with my fave concealer. They’ve been out since February. Jerks. So, I’ve been forced to venture out and try different concealers in hopes of finding a new fave. I had found a good replacement in a Maybelline one, but wanted a concealer with a thicker consistency. I decided to try the NYX line because I was sooo thrilled with their eyebrow pencil and I am happy to report that I have a new fave concealer.! I’m also saving money too, because it’s $6 cheaper than my old Sephora concealer!
11) Tresemme Climate Control Finishing Spray ($5)
As someone with crazy curly and frizzy hair humid and hot weather in general are not my friends. My hair goes either super flat if I’ve curled it, or crazy poufy if I’ve straightened it. Typically when the weather is not ideal for my hair I just throw it up to avoid a hair disaster, but now, I don’t have to! This magnificent hairspray really proved itself to me this past weekend when the weather was hot as hell and I was at an outdoor event for hours. I kept running to the bathroom to check if my curls went flat and was shocked every time to find that they hadn’t! I will definitely be wearing my hair down a lot more this summer!
12) Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara (“Very Black” shade) ($9)
I have a mascara problem. I always like to try new mascara’s for some reason and I don’t know why because I always end up going back to my one true love, Lash Stiletto. I’ve been using this mascara for at least a decade and every other mascara I’ve tried from either the drug store, department store, or makeup store has paled in comparison. I’ve tried mascara’s from $4 all the way up to $50, and this baby, at less than $10 is THE BEST. It perfectly separates my lashes and makes them long and gorgeous without flaking! And bonus, it washes off easily with water which is extremely important to me because I’ve tried some brands (not even waterproof) that I couldn’t get off my eyelashes for days, not even with makeup remover!
There you have it! These are my current fave drugstore beauty products! What are some of your faves?
